Kayla graduated in 2014 from Notre Dame’s top ranked Mendoza College of Business with a bachelor degree in marketing. Kayla returned to Notre Dame in 2019, during her WNBA off-season to take a role with the Fighting Irish Women’s Basketball team as the Player Development Program Manager. The position allowed her to learn behind the scenes about the program under Muffet McGraw. “It means everything. Knowing she has confidence in the women she put through here. She built a great foundation here and we can uphold that. We want to be able to keep that going,” Kayla said. “Having former players is a different vibe. When the girls are talking to me, I can talk to them from a player’s perspective.”

Basketball Is Everything
Basketball, man this was my first unconditional love. An escape, a gift, so much joy has come from this game. I would play it for free. I love the feeling I get when I’m on the court and able to compete at the highest level, and I loved it just as much hittin the court after school. It has shown me the world, it has opened doors, and given me so many opportunities for me and my family. It’s something that is hard to put into words, but everything about it, starts with love.
My Faith
I feel like many people complicate faith and religion. Faith is something we feel, we breathe it in, it surrounds us. It is a part of us. Religion is something we learn. When it comes to my faith, I fully believe in God and all the abundant about of gifts that he has given me, but even before that, I know God is love. Without Him creating the heart that I have, I wouldn’t be capable to love the way I do. The way I see faith is the same. It’s something I carry with me every single day and I’m just thankful to be able to walk in its peace.

My Ink
You know, they says once you start getting ink, you keep on getting ink. Currently I have 6 tattoos and counting. My very first tattoo was on my left shoulder and it says “KKAJ” in an infinity sign. The tattoo stands for Kayla, Karlee, Aaron, Jayden. My brother and sisters mean everything to me, they are my motivation, my heart and all things good about who I am and who I have become. For me, that’s infinite, that’s forever.
