Life is changing for Kayla McBride, and on the surface moving from San Antonio, Texas, to Las Vegas, Nevada, merely represents a change of address for a young professional basketball player accustomed to globe-trotting to best experience her lifelong dream.
What awaits her there — a new home with a pool, a dream to own a restaurant — constitutes a shift in priorities that was confirmed during the Erie native’s three-week trip home last month from Turkey, where she plays in the Turkish Women’s Basketball League.
Her parents, LuAnn and LaMont, needed help while recovering from health troubles.
“It was my time to be there for them like they have been there for so many years for me,” McBride said.
She returned to Turkey with a fresh perspective into what may lie ahead.
